About Me

I am a writer and poet living in Minnesota. My favorite forms are haiku, senryu, and tanka. You can find my words here, on Twitter as @TinaNguyen, and in various publications. In my professional writing, work, and published poetry, you’ll see me as Christina Nguyen.

On Twitter, I offer up the #5poem word each Monday. It’s a prompt designed to inspire and encourage people to write all types of five-line poetry. Join in! You can always find the word of the week (WOTW) here on the blog. Write a poem using the WOTW, tag it #5poem, and tweet it. Follow the tag, retweet your favorites, and enjoy the company of other poets.

In May 2011, I started International 5 Line Poetry Month. I was inspired by various other writing prompts and challenges, like Fiona and Kaspa’s river of stones. Every day, but especially in May, I want to encourage people to write poetry because it is one of my great loves. Look for the #5lines tag on Twitter to explore the possibilities and please add your own!
